Today, we celebrate the selfless love and dedication of fathers and father-figures worldwide. TSK extends her gratitude to all the men who have embraced this noble role, including spiritual leaders. Your impacts are immeasurable.
As we honour ourselves, let us reflect on the responsibilities that come with fatherhood. It’s a privilege granted by God, requiring us to:
• Show loving care and nurturing (Deuteronomy 6:7).
• Provide protection and safety (Matthew 2:13-15).
• Offer faithful prayers and guidance (1 Chronicles 29:19).
• Ensure provision and support (1 Timothy 5:8).
• Train and discipline with wisdom and grace (Proverb 22:6, Ephesians 6:4b).
• Correct and discipline with love (Proverb 29:17).
• Encourage and build up (1 Thessalonians 2:11-12).
• Lead our children to the Lord and set a godly example (Genesis 18:19, Joshua 24:15).
Let’s remember the example of Priest Eli, who despite his spiritual leadership, failed to discipline his sons, Hophni and Phinehas, allowing them to live sinfully (1 Samuel 2:12-18). Yet, under Eli’s custody, Samuel, a child dedicated to God, grew up to become a mighty prophet and leader (1 Samuel 1:28, 2:26). May we learn from Eli’s example, and prioritize our children’s spiritual growth and discipline, even as we strive to balance our own strengths and weaknesses.
May God grant us the grace to fulfill our fatherly roles and may our children grow up to honor Him. I pray for those desiring the gift of children, may God answer your prayers as He did for Hannah at Shiloh.
To all the wonderful fathers, thank you for your unwavering commitment. May your legacy be a testament to God’s love and grace.
Happy Father’s Day!
