At the Appointed Time: Trusting in God’s Perfect Timing

As Christians, we often face struggles and challenges in our lives, and we may wonder when will relief come. Sometimes, we ask ourselves when will the long-awaited breakthrough or doors be opened? But as children of God, we can trust that success and breakthrough come not just because of our efforts, but at the appointed time of God.

In the book of Genesis, we read the story of Joseph, who was sold into slavery by his brothers and later imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Yet, at the appointed time, God raised Joseph up to become the second-in-command in Egypt, saving the nation from famine and reconciling with his family (Genesis 41, 45). Egypt in the days of Joseph is like today’s United States of America. When God’s time arrived, Joseph was catapulted from doom to boom. Joseph’s story teaches us that God’s timing is perfect, even when our circumstances seem darkest. As Romans 8:28 reminds us, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

In my own life, I once experienced a season of struggle and doubt. I felt stuck in my career, in relationships and sometimes even questioned God’s plan. But at the appointed time, God opened doors to new opportunities and connections, leading me to a place of fulfillment and purpose. The Bible encourages us to wait on the Lord, trusting in His timing and sovereignty. Psalm 27:14 says, “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” And in Isaiah 60:22, we read, “The Lord will accomplish his plan, and nothing can hinder it.”

It is important to note that while we are waiting for the appointed time, we do not fold our hands. That is a good time to reflect, prepare, plan, pray, connect and stay focused. May we learn to trust in God’s appointed time, surrendering our struggles and doubts to His loving care. For in His perfect timing, we will see success
